Knitting along July 9, 2007
In spite of the
fact that I intentionally didn’t spend very much time working on the stole at any one sitting, and spread out the enjoyment of knitting the second clue as much as possible, I still finished it yesterday afternoon.
I’m still in love with this shawl. I love how the border is knit on at the same time. I love adding the beads with a crochet hook. Yup. I pretty much love everything about this shawl. I’m getting very curious as to what the theme is, too. The only thing I’m not 100% thrill with is the yarn. It tends to split on me once in a while, and since it’s so fine it can be hard to catch and fix.
You can see the beads in each of the close-ups below.
The Interweave Felt magazine I pre-ordered earlier this year arrived on Saturday. I’m not as happy with it as I thought I’d be. There are instructions for making felted beads (balls), a large section on needle felting—which I’m not at all interested in—and mittens out of unspun roving, stuff like that. Probably, at first pass, the only article I’m really interested in is the one about how different types of fibers felt. There are a couple purse patterns I might be interested in making, the Weekend Getaway Satchel, and the Felted Fair Isle Bag. I’ll definitely take the time soon to go through the issue more carefully, and read most of the articles.

WOW! Your shawl is looking beautiful! I finished my 2nd clue last night, but I’ve got to take photos.
After seeing how beautiful your beads look, I’m starting to regret not beading mine. I also don’t LOVE this yarn, but only because I wish it were a tiny bit thicker. Oh well.
Interweave Felt? I didn’t even know it existed.

Gorgeous. Next time I might have to play along.

Are you using Zephyr? Or is it some other fiber? Too bad it’s being a bit splitty on you because the results are just beautiful.
Re: Interweave Felt, I saw it in my LYS the other day and decided to take a pass for the reasons you mentioned.

Ooooo, the shawl is looking lovely!! I’m still on row 110–it’s been a busy week so far. I haven’t knit at all since Saturday.
I should get some knitting time in tonight while I’m waiting in line for the Order of the Phoenix at midnight(although the shawl won’t be what I’ll be working on).
Sorry Interweave Felt hasn’t lived up to your expectations, that stinks when that happens.

Yum! You are cruising through this!
