A little here, a little there July 18, 2007
I’ve been knitting. Honest I have.
Just nothing that really shows in pictures, you know?
I’ve made a bunch of progress on the sweatshirt sweater. Each side is somewhat more than thirteen inches now. I need to measure it again. I also need to measure my favorite sweatshirt to see how wide it really is. Once I reach the width of my favorite sweatshirt, minus two inches, I’ll be ready for the next step.
Oh! I finally got a picture of the gray yarn where you can see the texture. See that strand of yarn hanging down from the right side of the ball of yarn? You might want to click on it to see the picture full size. It’s all fuzzy on one side, the other side is some sort of a braid to hold all those little fibers together. It’s interesting to knit. The resulting fabric doesn’t look so much knit as shoved together somehow, can’t really see the knit stitches or rows or anything. It’s a fun texture. I like it.
I actually made some progress on the monkey socks yesterday. Finished up the fifth repeat, and started the heel flap. I think I’ll work on them at lunch again today, so I can make more progress. I do want to get these done so I can start something else. I need a short sock-free break, I think, before I start the corn socks for Dave. I’m thinking I’ll start the Clapotis next. I have that lovely Rowan Tapestry I bought for it. At least, that’s my plan today.

Oh god but that Clapotis will be beautiful in that yarn!!!!
I knitted three of those suckers myself - I tell you, there’s something VERY satisfying when you finally bind off that last stitch and drop that last dropped stitch and see how HUGE it finally is! Mine were out of Noro Silk Garden, and some Interlacements silk/rayon and 100% rayon (the last two gifts for friends, the Noro for my greedy little self.)
It’s such a lovely functional piece, I know you’re going to love it!!!!!

Nothing wrong with a little knitting here and there, Laura. After a few rows a day on each item, they’ll be done before you know it!

I think I have some blue yarn like that, only 2 balls. I have no idea what to do with it…..The socks are coming along nicely. Now I have to go see if there are any books I NEED. I love to get good things in the mail, like books!!
