I lost it! July 19, 2007
I can’t believe it. I just don’t loose things. I don’t. I don’t remember when the last time was that I actually lost something. But I’ve gone and lost the fifth sock needle that I’m using to knit the Monkey socks. Now, I can continue on four, but it’s most inconvenient—not to mention frustrating. I had it when I was knitting at lunch the other day. I used it before I started the heel flap. As of yesterday afternoon, though, it’s gone. Just gone! I’ve looked everywhere. Dave even tore apart the TV room looking for me. It could be in here, in my office, but I’ve been tearing apart everything here, too—and even, gasp, throwing old advertisements and things away (so I guess it’s not all bad).
But. But. But.
Arg!
Sigh.
It’ll turn up. It has to. Gussets are a bitch with only four needles. You know when I’ll find it though, don’t you? Yup. After the gussets are done. I mean, hopefully not, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it happens that way.
While I’m taking a break from looking for the wayward needle, I thought I’d share my progress on Winding the Skeins with you.
No, I’m not done with page two, but have started page three anyway. All of the rest of page two is Kreinik braid. And I’m running out. I need to get more. While I’m waiting to get around to ordering more spools of the stuff I started page three. See that bit that goes off on its own toward the right? That’s the far edge of the page. This page is all sky, and probably 90% of that is one of only four colors. A significant portion of that is more of that braid. I do need to get that braid. Soon.
On a completely different note, Dave shared this with me last night. ![]()

Oh GOD isn’t that going to be stunningly beautiful when it’s done! I did some back-blog searching and found your link for the entire picture - it’s stunning!
Who drew the original? Alma-Tadema or one of his friends? - it looks to be in that lovely, luscious style…….

You’re right–the needle will show up as soon as you finish the gussets. I’m down to four size 3 needles after sitting on one that was leaning against the arm of my chair. Birch needles break.
That cross-stitch will be amazing!

Love viewing the things you have made. I was hoping to see some needlepoint work you have done. I have just ventured into this medium.
I am on MS 3 also and love to knit, crochet, and do all kinds of needlework, handquilt, sew, and cross -stitch.

I see that you found the needle, Laura. I just wanted to tell you that I’m so impressed that you usually don’t lose things. I come from a long line (on my dad’s side) of people who are just the opposite. We lose many, many things. You must be naturally organized and ‘with it’. Please share some of those traits with me, GF!
