A little knitting progress

I haven’t been posting as regularly as I would like to, but I have been knitting. Honest. I even got a little knitterly visiting in on Tuesday.

Kristie came over, we had lunch, shared newly made socks, shawl swatches, yarn purchases (hers), and had a good knitterly get together. The Thelonius by Cookie A. socks she recently finished are fabulous. I might just have to knit a pair of those for myself. And she knit a wonderful pair of socks out of the Favorite Socks book. I must get a copy of that book one of these days. Oh, and I can’t forget to tell you the most important part! Kristie brought over her swift so I could wind up some sock yarn that’s starting to burn a hole in my sock yarn drawer. And she brought over her blocking wires so I could borrow them to block out my mystery stole. I’m hoping to get to that later today. Or maybe tomorrow. This weekend at the latest. You’re a peach, Kristie! Thank you.

Ocean stole 2007-08-29It was too hot to knit yesterday. It was actually hotter after 5 pm than it was earlier in the day. So unfair. Because of this, there was no cocktail hour knitting, and the after dinner knitting was somewhat brief. I think I got one pattern repeat added to the sea foam motif on the ocean stole. Yeah. That’s it. I got about the same amount done at lunch. Today won’t be much better as a friend’s coming over this evening. Hopefully I’ll get more knit on it tomorrow. Sweatshirt sweater 2007-08-29

The first sleeve of the sweatshirt sweater is about ¾ length now, and is about two inches wider than the cuff will be. Getting there!

Clapotis 2007-08-29And, I finally have a new picture of Clapotis for you. Though it doesn’t feel like it, I have made a little progress on it. I’m about to start the straight part where the shawl stays the same width for a while. It’s so soft. I wish you could feel this yarn. And smell it. Because of the soy content, it has a very interesting—not at all unpleasant—aroma. I’m so looking forward to being able to cuddle up in this shawl and my cozy gray sweater this winter.

I know. Pathetic post. But, unfortunately, this is all you get today. Thank you for stopping by!

I don’t know that I’m a peach, but you are definitely welcome to borrow my lace wires whenever you need them. Thankfully shawls take long enough to knit, that it’s not an item I need to have around here all that much.

It *was* hot yesterday! I was so wishing for a ice cold swimming pool to take a dip in, but unfortunately all my backyard contains is a detached garage and a lot of grass.

Nothing pathetic about it, kiddo! That’s way more progress than I could possibly hope to show. Besides, I didn’t read anywhere that this whole blog thing was a contest.

Rest easy. Your work is beautiful and cozy and fine!

I remember the getting-hotter-after-4PM days from when I lived in the foothills. The evening breezes for the coast went through Tracy and Oakdale before the got to us, picking up heat on their way. It really does make evening knitting difficult and no fun.

The Tapestry yarn does have a nice hand and drape, doesn’t it? I found it a little bit splitty , but still got more for a bigger project than the little test hat I did. Enjoy the knitting.
