Nap time: interrupted September 7, 2007
Waves and shells
As promised here are a few pictures of my ocean-themed shawl. It’s been progressing quite nicely. I think I might even have enough yarn to do everything I want, and get a
shawl at least close to the size I had in mind.
As you can see, even without stretching it’s getting quite long. It’s now 40 inches from stem to stern, and growing. I started the sunspot motif last night after a large section of shells and beads.
I love the transition from the shell motif to the sunspots. I took advantage of a tip that Anne shared with me, one that she’s used with success in a number of her own shawls. It worked great!
You didn’t really get
to see the other shell motif with its beads, so here’s a better picture of that part. It felt like I added tons and tons of beads, but after weighing my bead box, I found that I’ve only used six grams of them so far. There will be more beads added—using the crochet hook method I’ve been using all along as I am not up to stringing beads!—when I work the border.
Addicted to blogging
I forget whose blog I saw this on yesterday morning. I’m sorry! I thought it was fun, though.
Sleepy kitty
I’m sure you wondered when I’d get around to explaining the title of this post. Well, here it is. I gathered everything together to take pictures, and took it all into the brightest room convenient—Ricki’s nap room. I know. I’m so mean. I disturbed her mid-morning nap in her favorite chair. Poor kitty.

It’s looking so beautiful and you’re just booking right along on that aren’t you? What’s with the tease about Anne’s tip, but then not sharing it? ;-)
You’re such a mean mommy. Poor Ricki.

It grows and grows, Laura. My goodness! I’m with Kristie: spill on the tip, ya tease ;-)
I know that grumbly cat look. I’ve scooped up my share of sleeping kitties and suffered the wrath thereto.

You are really making great progress on the ocean shawl! It is turning out really well. You must tell us the tip from Anne!
Poor kitty! The life of a pampered house cat is tough.

I’m sure the kitty will forgive you for the wake-up. Though they are the cutest when they just wake up.

I’m only 48% addicted — to blogging. But, I, too, immediately thought ‘where’s the tip?’
The shawl will be gorgeous. I need to look up the crochet hook beading method. I’m about to do my first beading project and I have no intention of stringing beads, either.

Gorgeous shawl, and your cat is divine, too.
Thought of you while we were in Kauai, Laura. There was a lady sitting by the pool who was knitting!
