When Kristie and I went up to L.A. to see the Yarn Harlot, I naturally took along a sock I’d just started for Dave. I didn’t get far. I was laughing too hard. Turns out I didn’t do too well even on the part I did get done. I did a number of increase rows in a row, with no plain row in between, and the edges flared out. That won’t do.
Yup. Frogged the whole thing and started over.
Maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t get a lot done that Saturday.
After casting on again I didn’t get much knit yesterday, but it’s a start. The increase rows are actually evenly spaced against
the plain rows this time, making the shaping at the end of the toe much more even. Better.
A lot of progress has been made on the South Seas Stole. Not picture-worthy progress, unfortunately, though progress nonetheless. I’m half way along the second side. This side is knitting up a lot faster than the first one did for some reason. Probably has something to do with the fact that I’m not needing to tink back a row or three for every repeat. For some reason the reversed chart is easier for me to knit, so tinking is rare rather than the rule, making forward progress much more noticeable. For some reason.
Clapotis is growing, too, though again, not noticeably enough for a photograph. The sweatshirt sweater? Currently on the sidelines until after I get the stole done. I may put that off until either the socks for Dave or Clapotis are done, too. We’ll see. Seems I do better when I have fewer rather than more knitting projects on the go at one time.

I can’t wait for the South Seas Stole to be done! What a gorgeous piece that will be!

I’m afraid my Yarn Harlot sock is going to end up looking the same, although for not the same reason. The pattern I chose sucks, and that’s just the truth of it. I know, it’s harsh, but I think I’ve knit enough socks by now that I can discern a good pattern from a bad one. Lesson learned: read through an entire pattern before choosing it.
I’m searching for yarn for a second Clapotis. I know I already have one, but with fall coming I’m feeling the urge. I’m seeing nothing appropriate in my stash though & next month I’m going on a much-needed yarn diet. What to do, what to do.

I have decided that all future Yarn Harlot excursions will involve only the simplest of knitting — plain stockinette or maybe even garter stitch. I need something I can do with absolutely no thought for the knitting. The laughing gets in the way.
