Maybe you’re all out of town October 19, 2007
I had this perfectly good, albeit more than a bit whiney, post set and ready to go this morning about poor little me, out here in stupidly-warm-for-the-season-can-you-tell-I-really-miss-autumn southern California, while everyone else is having tons of fun and autumn-y weather at Rhinebeck, SOAR, and Stitches East.
Then several of you posted comments all at the same time.
Including Susan over at Crystal Palace—also in California, but 400 miles north and with (by my reckoning) better weather. And she even likes my Diamonds in His Shoes pattern, and wants to link to from their free sock pattern page, like she did my Forget-Me-Not pattern. Woot!
If you’ve been keeping track of my projects at all, you will have noticed a distinct lack of knitting happening on the sweatshirt sweater. Yes, it’s been in the backseat for a while, but now it’s up front again, and no longer suffering from first sleeve syndrome. The first sleeve has finally been completed, including the red stripes that I almost forgot to knit in, and the second sleeve has been started.
I tried the sweater on a couple of times to get the sleeve the right length. I’m really glad that I wasn’t planning on making a positive fashion statement with this sweater. It makes me look even bulgier than I am. But that’s okay. I’m knitting it to have something new to cuddle up in at home during the winter months, and to get some decade-old stash out of the bin and used up. The only people likely to see me in it, besides Dave and a neighbor here or there, are the kind employees at my local post office. ![]()
Speaking of the post office, I need to get my act together, get everything ready, and get myself down there and all these good things posted. Enough dilly-dallying, Internet surfing, blethering in my blog for now. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, even if, like me, you’re not at Rhinebeck.

Laura, you are not the only So Cal knitter not at Rhinebeck, Soar, or Stitches East. Pick up your knitting, get a nice cup of tea or coffee and get thee to a quiet place to work on your sweater. We do not shovel snow or lose power due to ice storms, and we are ever so grateful. Hope your weekend is great!

No, I’m not at Rhinebeck either. I’m in Northern Michigan enjoying the beautiful colors of Autumn. Except for last night we’ve had “nice” fall weather, we had lots of tornado watches and warning last night and the winds were awful (30 - 50 mph gusts). Love your sweatshirt, gf. Now get to the post office………….
BTW, congrats on the link to your socks, again.

Another voice from the stormy Midwest chiming in to say that you’re not the only one staying at home. Personally, I’m going to be big about this whole thing of half the North American blog world migrating eastward for a few days. Really I will…
Congratulations on the second Crystal Palace nod. Great socks mean much deserved recognition.

Okay, next year we need to organize a “Not at Rhinebeck” Blogalong. Blogland will feel very quite this weekend. At least the weather here suits lots of knitting, at least as long as we still have lights and heat.
Congratulations on the second sock pattern thing.

Sorry I’ve been MIA, my baby sister was here for a week and between that and the fibro flaring up, I’ve not been on the computer much. Glad to see the sweatshirt sweater isn’t feeling too neglected any more and I’ll be looking forward to hopefully seeing it soon.
YEAH for Crystal Palace seeing your pattern and adding it to their site. Next thing you know, you’ll be working for them!
