Lace dreams

Vine Lace 2007-11-13The vine lace socks are coming along swimmingly. I have four inches knit on the cuff already. Another inch and a half, and I’ll start on the heel flap. This pattern is a lot of fun so far. The lace pattern is very easy to memorize, and every other row is just knit, so it’s easy-schmeezy.

I was bad. Look what arrived in today’s mail.

More Zephyr Wool-Silk from Judy at The Knitter. I so loved working with this yarn for the South Seas Stole, and it comes in so Zephyr Wool-Silk in Tealmany glorious colors, I couldn’t resist getting a little more. I have very specific plans for the pale green/blue color. They called it teal. Hm. Doesn’t look teal at all to me. I want to cast on for it right away, but I’ll wait to do that until next week. You’re just going to have to wait and see what I come up with Zephyr Wool-Silk in Tealfor that single ball of yarn.

The other color I got, Dianthus, is a rich pink color. If you’re familiar with the flower Dianthus, then you’ll know exactly what color this yarn is. The most common genus of Dianthus, at least around here, is referred to as Sweet William (Dianthus barbatus). It’s one of my all-time favorite flowers. Not only is it usually a prolific bloomer, but it has a divinely sweet aroma. Heady. An aroma that makes you think the flowers must be much larger than they actually are. I don’t know yet exactly what this will be, but the yarn makes me think of spring flowers.

Hooray for embracing the browns! I just love the colors of the Zephyr too - especially Dianthus.

Looks like you’ve been bit *hard* by the lace bug. I can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with those beautiful skeins of yarn.
