Happy anniversary, baby… November 15, 2007
Got you on my mi-iii-iiind.
Four years ago today, after having been together twelve years and engaged for only six weeks, Dave and I got married.
We went up to northern California, and got married at home, in the house I grew up in, a lifetime of memories surrounding us, the living room furniture pushed back against the walls, family and friends all around. Some were notably missing: my cousin Jim, both of his parents, Dave’s mother and stepmother, my grandmothers, my cousins’ grandparents, and others who are dear to our hearts—they were all there in spirit; I know they were. Jim never missed a good party. Or a wedding. I loved it when he showed up for our cousin’s reception wearing a different tie than earlier, with the bright yellow smiley faces on a navy background. But I digress.
This first picture is one of my favorites. Everyone’s watching the ceremony except my cousin Michael, who is looking at my parents. No one is looking at the photographer.
I wish you could see this, but though it was the middle of November in northern California and the daytime temps weren’t exactly warm, the minister was wearing huaraches. No socks. We’ve seen him a few times since then, and that seems to be his regular footwear.
Except for my uncle who took the picture, and one cousin and his son who had a playoff game to go to so missed the ceremony but were there in plenty of time to eat and enjoy the party, this is everyone who came to the wedding: mostly family, a few old friends of the family, and a couple friends of Dave’s and mine who were able to make the 400-mile trip. Except for my sweet dad who was quite ill, but not so ill that he couldn’t keep a firm grip on my hand, everyone looks great, don’t they? All big, smiling faces.
I don’t know why some of these scans are so washed out. The originals look better than that.
That’s it for today. No knitting. No stitching. No gardening. No house repair. No talks of pending dinner parties. Just a brief trip down memory lane, and a small celebration of one of the most wonderful days of my life.
I love you, darling.

My gosh, has it been 4 years already? Feels more like 16! ;-)
My earliest memory of you two was being invited to Johnny Rebs. I was new out here, no friends but the people I worked with. With an AAA map in hand, directions from the restaurant, I found my way there to a most scrumptious dinner! So good, in fact, that I make sure I go there at least once a month!
After 14 years, I remember most that were there, but you guys are the only two I still see on a regular basis.
Happy Anniversary! I’m thinking that the 5th in November 2008 sounds like a perfect time for a party! I can start planning now…:-)
Love you both.

Congratulations! We just celebrated our 4th anniversary last month so we’re a month up on you there, but we had only been together a year so you *definitely* beat us out there.
You two are the perfect couple and I’m proud to know you and call you my friends. Happy Anniversary.
