A is for… January 16, 2008
When I saw that the ABC Along had been revived, and that I was in time to get in at the beginning, I had to join. I loved watching everyone play along a couple years ago—has it really been that long?—and it looked like fun to do, so here I am.
At “A.” ![]()
“A” is for apples. And the apples that went into the Fidget Pie that I baked for Dave last night as a belated birthday dinner. You see, Saturday was his birthday, and I spent the day at TNNA with Kristie, and was dead tired when I got home; no way I could have made the pie then. Good thing I have
an understanding hubby! Oh, and yes. Pie for dinner. It’s a savory pie (in more ways than one) with apples, ham, onion, potatoes, sage, nutmeg, and a little stock, topped with a crust and baked. Yum. I can almost smell it right now. Yum.
“A” is for animals. In particular, at least at this house, a kitty named Ricki who loves to help block lace. Yup. That’s the pink Garden Party shawl that’s getting itself blocked. Finished it at lunch today.
Jessi was right. It’s definitely a “curner.” It’s curved, yet it makes a distinct corner. But there’s also a point at the end. It’s a very confused shawl, start to finish. When it’s dry I’ll get it off the black and white striped sheet and take more pictures of it. Tomorrow. I hope.
I heard from Nancy at Chameleon Colorworks late yesterday. She’s going to send me some of her gorgeous hand-dyed yarn to design something with. She’s one of the dyers that I met at TNNA. Her yarns are gorgeous. Wait until you see them. She’s going to dye some for me next week. I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. Can’t wait to get my needles into her yarn. I gave her a bunch of color choices, and don’t know which she’s chosen to send. It’ll be a surprise. Don’t worry. I’ll share.
Atrocious. That’s all I have for “A” at the moment. I’m sure I’ll come up with tons of stuff tomorrow. But then it’ll be too late. For “A,” anyway. Adios. Ahem.

Hmmmm, I missed the ABC ALong, atleast the “A” day, might just have to look that one up to see what its all about
The shawl came out really nice, I sure do wish I was proficient in lace knitting so I could be a test knitter. Oh Well, am working on little lacey objects like You suggested, including the Snowflake Shawl and Monky Socks. Glad you had fun at TNNA, sure wish I coulda gone.

Wow, your shawl looks so big. I hope mine will end up stretching that long. I like them big. I’ll get there, I promise. Working on it as we speak.

As infrequently as I post, I can’t participate in the A-B-C along. I’d probably only make it through half the alphabet. LOL :-)
That pie looks good! What are the other main ingredients in Fidge Pie?
I can’t wait to see the finished shawl! I can’t believe you’re finished already. I’m trying to get to the corner, and honestly, I think this is my most favorite shawl yet. It’s so beautiful!
I also noticed on Sheri’s blog that she’s going to carry some of the Chameleon Colorworks yarn. YEAH!

Oh, that pie sounds delish! The shawl is just gorgeous, too. I love the curner! Very different from the patterns I’ve seen around.
I’ve been reading up on blocking lace, since I just joined the Secret of the Stole ii, and I’m unclear on how much you should stretch it if there are no end dimensions. Do you just stretch it til it looks good to you, or do you stretch as far as it’ll go?

The shawl looks spectacular! Do we get to see a modelled shot?
