Calendar winner!

Random winnerWhen only three people sign up for a giveaway, a random number generator really isn’t needed. Eeny-meeny-miney-mo would work just as well. But since the participants weren’t here in the room with me, I ran the number generator anyway. And, drum roll please… DonnaC wins the calendar! Donna, you probably haven’t seen my email message yet, but I need your snail mail address so I can send the calendar to you.

Big thanks to MrPuffy and Robin (sadly blogless) for also playing.

New friends

Denise decided that all the “local” knit groups were too far away from home to be convenient, so she started a new group on Ravelry, and we all met for the first time last night at Starbucks in Anaheim Hills. Ten of us showed up for the first get together. Ten! I hope I can remember everyone’s names. Let’s see. (The following links are all on Ravelry, and you need an account to see them.) Obviously Denise was there, a non-Raveler Donia (I’m sure I spelled that wrong—sorry!), Knitterotica, Chia, Cindi, Rhonda (newly on the waiting list), Barbara, Alexis, and Marie. And me. That makes ten, right?

I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun it was meeting this group of local knitters. It was marvelous. It was so fun getting together with a group of people who knit. We talked about knitting and yarn and Ravelry and classes and shows, all while most of us were knitting. It was great. What a wonderful group of women. The intention here is for this to be a weekly meeting, same place, same time (6 to 9 pm), same day (Mondays). Denise was the only one who took pictures—I even had my camera. Bad blogger! She’s promised to send them along to me so I can add them to my blog, since she doesn’t have one. I’ll get the photos up soon. Hopefully tomorrow.

I got a ton of knitting done on my latest sock design last night. A ton. I finished the heel flap, turned the heel, and almost finished the gusset. I’m so happy that I changed stitch patterns for this yarn. This stitch actually takes advantage of color changes, and kind of warps them. It’s rather fun. This sock pattern definitely makes me wish that I had a sock blocker to put it on, so you can see what it really looks like. Drat. When it’s a little bigger I’ll be able to put it on my foot… As you can see, my furry little helper was on the job again this morning. She’s so funny. She wanted to be close, to sniff the yarn, to check it out, but she didn’t lay so much as a paw on it. She didn’t bite it, chase it, try to eat or play with it. She just watched.
