Riiiiip

The sound of stitches being pulled.

is now a re-wound cake of yarn, ready to be knit at lunch today.

Sigh.

After I took that picture I knit one more pattern repeat, then switched to the next motif, knit two or three repeats there, then realized that I’d already used up half my yarn. Half! Hrmph. Not much of a scarf at that rate.

I pulled out my calculator, and reworked the scarf pattern. The pattern will now have three sizes to choose from: the narrow scarf that I’ll knit with this yarn, the wide scarf that Kristie is test knitting for me (and it looks gorgeous so far) in Zephyr Wool-Silk, and the stole that Kim (sadly blogless) is test knitting. A little something for everyone, in one compact pattern.

I wish you could see and feel this yarn. It’s EvolutionTM lace weight (heavy lace or fine fingering to my mind) from Chameleon Colorworks. The yarn is 100% merino. And yet… The fibers were stretched, making the resulting Chameleon Colorworks, Evolution sport, Black Cherryyarn super soft, as well as giving it a slight sheen. It’s glorious. The color I have, Ruby, looks more like the Rose colorway to me, but the label proves me wrong.

Nancy sent this to me late last week along with these two glorious hanks of sport weight EvolutionTM in Black Cherry. This colorway was just what I expected. Shades range from a light, bright red, to deep burgundy and dark gray. Luscious. And it’s just as soft as its finer weight counterpoint.

Oh yeah. In case you’re wondering. I haven’t frogged the Mingus partial sock yet. But I definitely will. Sadness. Ah well. Such is the life of a knitter. As we knit, so shall we rip.

You could make it a double riiiip day by doing Mingus too. Make it a theme day … the Riiiiip day.

I love Chameleon Colorworks yarn. I noticed this morning that she’ll be at Stitches. I wonder if she’ll remember me? Probably if I tell her I was with you .. huh?

You have another one in the works? Wow, how creative. Thanks for skipping me this time, KP is keeping me busy with a big project in lace weight.

I am droooling over the black cherry colorway. Not much of a pink fan, but pair it with black, gray, or dark brown and I’m there.

I don’t even want to think how they stretch the poor wool. Visions of Willy Wonka with a pink sheep come to mind.
