Well, looky there

Illusions 2008-02-08 1Dave has been telling me for eons now that our old digital camera does macro shots. I’ve had zooming down forever. As you can see. Successful zooming with this camera starts with sitting three or four feet away from the object to be photographed, making sure digital zoom is on for maximum effect, and well, zooming.

I’ve fiddled, and fiddled, and fiddled with the silly camera. All to no avail. The macro feature just hasn’t worked for me at all. It’s made absolutely no difference in my pictures. None. Nada. Might as well not even have a macro feature. Illusions 2008-02-08 2

Until today.

It finally occurred to me that if I turned the digital zoom feature off before getting up close and personal with my subject, that that might work better.

Ta da! Success. (Even better than boil-in-bag rice.)

I can just hear the stream of I-told-you-sos. I can just hear them. I think we should keep this discovery of mine to ourselves, don’t you?

P.S. That’s what I have so far of the second sock to my Illusions pair. Not much considering I got the ribbing and the first couple pattern rows done at Monday’s get together. Still loving the knitting, just haven’t had much time to work on it this week, for some unknown reason.

*gasp, How did you do that? I haven’t even begun to understand all the wonderful things my new camera can do yet. I’ll have to dig around the manual I think….. WOW.

That’s basically how I learn anything with my camera also. Trial and lots of error. Why oh why don’t I just read the manual? Probably because that’s so boring. ;-)

I’m at the foot on both socks. Hopefully they’ll be finished before Monday night.
