C is for cat

Thursday, February 14, 2008

I am a cat person. Don’t get me wrong. I love dogs. Love them. I pretty much love every furry animal I’ve come across, actually. Total sucker for a fuzzy face and big eyes. Or beady ones. I loved the hamster and hooded rats I had as a youth, too. And the dog we had […]

Less than 1 gram

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

I’m very glad that I didn’t try to knit that extra pattern repeat before starting the edging pattern. Very glad. When I was done knitting I had less than 1 gram of yarn left as it was. Talk about close!

Now it looks like this…

I got a lot done on my Illusions sock yesterday […]

Illusions

Monday, February 11, 2008

Illusions, a pattern of my own devising, where the knit/purl patterning and the changes in yarn patterning combine to create the illusion of movement.

Needles: set of 5 DPNs, size 0, or the size you need to get gauge
Gauge: 8 stitches/inch […]

Well, looky there

Friday, February 8, 2008

Dave has been telling me for eons now that our old digital camera does macro shots. I’ve had zooming down forever. As you can see. Successful zooming with this camera starts with sitting three or four feet away from the object to be photographed, making sure digital zoom is on for maximum effect, and well, […]

The year of the rat

Thursday, February 7, 2008

I pretty much always miss being in San Francisco, but especially at times like this when big celebrations are going on, and there’s partying in the streets. It all seems bigger than life somehow. When I was a kid Dad got me Chinese New Year posters every year, the same ones that decorated all the […]

Garden Party

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

This triangular shawl starts with a central leaf panel. After that the right side is knit, then the left side. The full triangle is made a little larger, then it is finished with a wide applied border.

Details are available on the Garden Party pattern page.

Riiiiip

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

The sound of stitches being pulled.
This

is now a re-wound cake of yarn, ready to be knit at lunch today.
Sigh.
After I took that picture I knit one more pattern repeat, then switched to the next motif, knit two or three repeats there, then realized that I’d already used up half my yarn. Half! Hrmph. […]

B is for blue

Monday, February 4, 2008

I’m a couple days late for “B” and the ABC Along. Sigh.
I’m still feeling a bit blue about the blue Mingus sock. I haven’t done a thing with it since I tried it on late last week, and it was, uh, a bit tough to tug over my heel. I really don’t want to […]

Blue sock

Illusions
It’s interesting, with all that sandy tan color in the yarn how, to me anyway, this is a blue sock. The yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in Sand Ridge. The color is absolutely perfect with my light blue jeans, which is perfect, because I absolutely live in those pants. I stopped knitting last night […]
