Green vines

Vine stole swatchGreen vines are trailing up and around my swatch. There are two different vine patterns here, just like the top of the swatches from last week in that other yarn. But this swatch is knit in the Malabrigo that I’ll be knitting the stole in. And I decided on a border that I really like. It incorporates the simpler of the two vine stitches with some garter stitch Tin Manon the edge to keep it from curling. I used short rows to shape the corner. It felt kind of weird to be doing that kind of short row away from a sock, but it worked out well.

I liked this swatch so much that I cast on and knit. I actually knit quite a bit. We watched monster movies on SciFi Saturday, and the new take on the Wizard of Oz called, Tin Man, on Sunday. Lots of knitting time. Yea! Oh, and yeah, we liked Tin Man quite a bit. It was fun.

I’m still not completely well (but much better this morning), so knitting was slower than it might have been. At one point, after having knit four or five inches of this, I ripped it all out, and started over with one more repeat. It just wasn’t going to be wide enough. Now it will. I’m glad I did it.

Now to figure out how far to go before I start the second vine motif. Decisions, decisions.

Hey Laura, I might have just the perfect yarn, almost like yours, for this shawl. What shape is it going to be this time? You are on a roll.

ooohhh…. loving the progress thus far. Of course you know I’d rather see it in person. ;-)

I’ll have to check out Tin Man. My husband LOVES the Wizard of Oz and anytime we can agree on a movie, it’s a good thing.

Love the pattern and the yarn. Malabrigo is just yummy to knit with.

I watched the Tin Man when it was first on the Sci-Fi channel and really enjoyed it.

Oh so beautiful! I’m sorry, I know I say that a lot, but I really mean it!
The color is just divine too!

Very pretty! I love the vine motifs in that rich green. Very nice idea for the short rows at the corners.
