Farther than I thought March 14, 2008
Wasn’t I surprised last night when I finished up the first sleeve, and cast on for the second one? You could have knocked me over with a feather. I didn’t think I’d gotten that far so soon. It’s just one more example of how quickly things knit up with the larger needles. Now the sweater body is done up to the armholes, and one sleeve is done to the same point. One sleeve to go, and I’ll be able to join things up, and start the raglan decreases and lace and cable work.
Speaking of which—the large needles, that is—I’m so used to casting on 64 or so stitches onto a six inch long needle when making socks, that it came as somewhat of a shock to my system to be
able to barely cram 32 stitches onto a six inch long size 10½ needle. It’s one of those things. Just didn’t think about it. Of course, I’m sure I would have grabbed longer DPNs, if I had them, but I don’t. It isn’t that big of a deal. The stitches didn’t stay on one needle for very long, just long enough to cast them on and divide them up, but even so. It was still kind of odd.
I’ve been doing more tinkering today, web surfing with a purpose, and feeling fog-brained. I doubt it’s the lack of sunlight, I love the overcast skies we’re having. Spring lethargy perhaps? Confusion reigns, and so the blog post for today is quite short. Sorry about that. Maybe it’ll clear up a little when I get my hands back on the needles, and get that second sleeve started…

Don’t you just love when you get on a roll and get so much accomplished?? You’ll be finished in no time at all!

Crap! Got an error message when I tried to post my message: “wrong protection code passed. Try again, please.”
What a great project to be flying off your needles. Major change from a lace shawl project huh?

I think it’s the shock that’s got you…
