Yoke March 21, 2008
I’ve begun knitting Emerald’s yoke and raglan decreases. There are a lot of stitches on the needles right now, because of it. It’s funny, though. It looks (and feels) like there are more stitches than there really are.
What you’re seeing is both fronts, the back, and both sleeves all being knit up at once. With all that going on, there are still only 162 stitches on the needle—if I’m remembering correctly. I’ve done one row of raglan decreases, and I believe I started with 166 stitches. Anyway, with any luck at all, the raglan portion will be done by the end of the weekend. Then I’ve just to pick up the neckline stitches. This is where I’ll need a really long cable between those points. Too bad I don’t have one. Drat. So not worth placing an order with KnitPicks, paying for shipping, waiting… just for a cable. Oh well. I’ll manage.
Yesterday a bunch of local Ravelers got together at the Purl Soho warehouse in Tustin for a little yarn shopping. I was such a good girl. I didn’t buy a thing! Can you believe it? It’s probably because I’m still reeling from all the wonderful yarn I got at Stitches West last month. It was great fun seeing the warehouse, though, and more importantly, getting together with knitters to share our favorite hobby. There were eleven of us there (or was it twelve?), including several husbands—only one of whom knits. Jerry, the knitting husband, and his wife Debbie took a number of pictures that they shared on Jerry’s blog, Twisted Knitster. Yes, as far as I know, they were the only ones taking pictures. In case you’re wondering, I do show up in several shots. I’m in the purple sweater.
After everyone got their shopping in a number of us met up at Lucille’s BBQ at The District for lunch where we got to talk a lot, get to know each other a little more. Most of us are in the Ravelry Monday night meetup group, but there were some new faces, too. It was wonderful seeing everyone. And lunch was yummy. Thank you again, Kristie!

I look forward to the landmark but I don’t look forward to the bulkiness of the knitting once I have a body to unite with the sleeves for my EZ EPS sweater. Still, it is exciting when it actually looks like a sweater, isn’t it?
purlsoho has a warehouse in Tustin that you can drop into? How come this is the first i’ve heard of this? I’ll have to figure out logistics for that in my summer So Cal trip.

I have a really long cable you can borrow if you’d like. I could bring it to knit night on Monday if you’d like.
It just wouldn’t be any fun w/o you there at lunch and you’re very very welcome.

Emerald is so pretty. Can’t wait to see it finished. I’m glad you had a good time with the Ravelers.
