Out it comes II April 11, 2008
I have no new pictures for you today. I know. Can you believe it? And I’m bothering to post, too, mostly to share my backwards progress.
First up: Cathy at Twist is awesome. Not only has she hung in there with me through the continuing saga of the black Malabrigo Lace, but
she also dug into her supplies and compared yarn weights for me, and she let me know right away that the outcome of her delving was positive. Her black Malabrigo Lace is the same thickness—or close enough to it, anyway—so I sent her some money, and she mailed me the yarn. Her shop is close enough geographically to me that I have hopes that the yarn will even make it here either today or tomorrow so that I can resume knitting the vine stole. In the meantime, I prepared myself for more knitting by ripping out all the black lace that I showed you earlier this week.
Second up: The Bambino socks. I have a good three inches of sock knit, enough that I was able to try it on yesterday afternoon. And it wouldn’t go on my foot. Well, that may be a bit harsh. I did go on my foot, but it was tight, and there was no way it was going to go over my heel. ![]()
It seems that my great idea of getting rid of pooling by using a smaller needle maybe wasn’t so great after all. I have an idea for reworking the sock, but it will take some planning. I’m considering a very unique, very odd sock construction. I hinted to Nancy at Chameleon Colorworks about it, and we agreed that it would make a pattern too difficult for a sock club, but that she’d like to bundle it with yarn and sell it as a kit. That would be pretty cool, don’t you think? I do. We’ll see if my idea works. Hopefully I’ll have time over the weekend to play with it a bit.
Third thing: Just so you know. Anne got some grief regarding a pattern she’s been working on and its perceived relation to something from a designer called Fleegle. Anne goes into the whole thing in this morning’s blog post, so I won’t bother repeating her. I wanted to add, though, that I thought it would be a good idea for her to post about it. The slamming really bothered her, and I felt that she would benefit from setting the record straight. Obviously, she agreed. Also, Anne is about to release a Little Nothing scarf pattern using one of the stitch patterns that I’m using in my vine stole. We both know this. We’re both fine with it. The finished garments look nothing like each other, other than they’re both vine-y. So please, go enjoy Anne’s designs, and know that even if, on occasion, our ideas seem similar, we’re both okay with that.

I’m buried under Sock Madness and I’m only visiting a few (3) blog sites right now, but I’m also tempted now to include Anne’s. You definitely have my curiosity peaked.
You’ve also peaked my curiosity regarding your sock design. Knit faster, then take photos.
Maybe Nancy would send you one of her tonal yarns to work up a sock club pattern from. She had tonal yarns .. didn’t she?
