Finally. A name. April 15, 2008
I’d been starting to lean that way anyway, but then last night at our Monday night knitting get together, Kristie was fairly insistent. She really, really, really likes the name Dulcavina. It’s unique, she says. It certainly is, since I made it up—inspired by Denise (blogless) and Karen. It’s descriptive. It flows off the tongue. Okay. Sold.
Between spending most of my time sleeping knitting on the couch yesterday afternoon, and a couple more hours of knitting time at knit night, I got more than a foot of border knit on. Woot! It may end up being a little, er, close, but it looks like one hank of this yarn is going to be almost exactly the amount needed for the border. It’ll be interesting. I’ve used about one third of the hank, and I’ve knit (I think) a hair more than a third of the border. Nervous stuff.
Gardeners
There were so few weeds in the yard this year, that the guys were able to haul them all away yesterday, as well as cut them down. I know. Amazing. The burlap squares must have finally worn out, though, as they were using canvas squares to wrap the cut weeds in.
You can get a good feel from
this first picture at how high my dining room is off the ground, and the steepness of the hill. Yes, that concrete down there is a rough stairway going down the side of my neighbor’s house. The guy with the weed eater occasionally had a little trouble with his balance—between the steepness of the hill, and the weight and motion of the tool, he had to work hard to win out over gravity and actually stay on his feet. He managed, though. Quite well.
Then there’s this poor guy. Take a look at that load. That’s probably 75 or 100 pounds of weeds up there on his shoulder. I think he was relieved to finally get to the stairs, though he was still pretty far below the street. At least he no longer had to worry about his footing.
Knitter’s
I appreciate the comments from Jan and Suzanne (both blogless) yesterday. They’ve been sorely disappointed in the magazine, too. I’m glad to know it’s not just me.

Love the name, perfect for lace.
I do have a blog, just couldn’t remember the address.

I’m so glad I was persistent in telling you how much I liked the name. In your weak & sleepless state, I wore you down. LOL!!

Kristie is funny. I love how she wore you down. In any case, I’m happy for whatever small help I may have been. It is Dulcavina’s naming day!
