Mingus progress

MingusI’m on a roll with the first Mingus sock. It’s nearly done. Less than an inch to go before the toe decreases. I hope to start those this evening. I got about ten rows done on this sock last evening, which is quite a bit for this pattern. It helps that the sole of the foot is just knit, makes that part of each round go quickly.

Mingus

The only problem I’m having is one of choice. I need to work on the figgy pudding socks, but I need the needles that I’m using for Mingus. I do have one other set of size 1 DPNs, but the tips are so blunt that it’s difficult to knit anything but stockinette with them. So, do I wait to start the second Mingus sock until after knitting the figgy pudding socks, or do I get another set of DPNs? I know. The easy thing to do is to buy another set of needles. They’re just not in the budget right now is the thing. Don’t you hate that? I sure do.

Oh, and yeah, by the way, totally loving this yarn—Smooshy by Dream in Color. It’s incredible. It’s soft, smooshy, knits up like a dream, and the colors are fabulous—never pooling or striping, subtle changes, hints of fun, and the stitch pattern totally pops, isn’t hidden behind wild swirls of color. I really can’t wait to get the pair done so I can wear them. My feet are so looking forward to the experience.

Pathetic as today’s post is, this is all I have for you. I’d considered waiting until tomorrow, in hopes that I could come up with a longer post, but I figured you’d forgive me. Sometimes it’s nice to have a short post to read.

P.S. Suzanne, as it turns out, isn’t blogless. She’d just temporarily forgotten her URL. I hate it when that happens.

You’re in the homestretch on that sock now. It looks so great. I’m in about the same spot on my sample sock.

I think you should finish the other Mingus sock before continuing with Briar Rose. Maybe that will give me a chance to catch up to you. ;-)

So pretty!! I’ll have to keep my eye out for that Dream in Color - I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. And I agree with Kristie - knit the other Mingus first. You need to be able to wear them!!

I’ve knit socks with the DK Classy. Some day I’ll try some Smooshy. It really is great yarn.

My first thought was ‘get more needles,’ of course. Hope that can happen soon.

Love, love, love this sock pattern. I’ll probably be doing this one. I still need to finish the 2nd Forget-Me-Not……….
