Fiddling July 16, 2008
There’s a lot of fiddling that goes into designing knitwear, even something simple like mitts that are mostly stockinette. My Tenaya mitts are a case in point. My dear friend Denise (blogless, but here on Ravelry; mitt pictures are here) is helping out by test knitting this pattern for me. She’s had some questions, needed a few things clarified, which is all to the good. I’d just as soon get those questions answered now than later. There’s been one spot, though, that’s been a little harder to nail down, smooth out, get right. I think I finally managed it. I had to knit that area again. Thankfully I was able to do it without knitting an entire mitt. A little swatch was sufficient for this purpose.
I swatched. I counted stitches. I did a little more math. Then I sent the changes to Denise for a sanity check. I think I got it. Fingers crossed.
I’d figure out more stuff to tell you today, but I need to get going. Dave and I are going to sit down in a few minutes to make yet another list of the things that need to be finished up for my new web site. It’s getting close to being ready for release. As usual, the last few bits are seeming to take the most time. That’s some sort of a rule, isn’t it?

You got that right, the last few bits for a website are the ones that take the longest!!
