One down… July 18, 2008
I finished the first Posh yarn sock yesterday afternoon. Yes, I immediately cast on for the second sock—don’t want those needles to get relegated to some other project, and not get this pair done.
So far in the naming poll, Algernon is leading, with Uncle Jack, Earnest, and Other trailing far behind. Someone voted for other, but didn’t give me any new ideas. Hey. Please don’t do that. That’s what the comments are for!

The shawl for Karen doesn’t really look any different, from a picture standpoint, than it did the other day. It is bigger, though. Honest.
I’m going to close today by sharing with you a few pictures of this strange yet delightful fuzzy-leafed plant. I got a couple snippets of this guy from a dear old friend a few years back. It dies back almost completely every autumn, and comes back bigger, and better every spring. It’s starting to bloom again. There are more buds on it; I’m sure more are to follow. I just love this thing. No idea what it’s called. It has thick, stiff stems and leaves, almost like a succulent, but then there’s that dying back thing. And the soft, fuzzy leaves. Don’t you just love the color of its tri-petaled flowers? If you have any idea at all what this plant is, please let me know. I’d love to find out.

I think it’s an ornamental oregano. Rub the leaves and then smell, should remind you of oregano. It’s called ornamental because it’s not very good for cooking, just for looking….
