The name is Algernon

Huge thank yous to everyone who voted in my poll late last week. The results were decisive. Algernon got 68% of the votes, which worked out to ten votes more than everything else combined. Lee (sadly blogless) thought that they should be called Oscar, and Mikki came in after the poll closed with a vote of other… So that she could have another pair of socks from me. Ha ha. Silly girl. Nope. This one fits me perfectly, and is all mine. Good try, though! Here’s the breakdown of the 28 votes in popularity order: Algernon

  • Other: 7%, 2 votes
  • Earnest: 11%, 3 votes
  • Uncle Jack: 14%, 4 votes
  • Algernon: 68%, 19 votes

I didn’t get a thing done on my second Algernon sock over the weekend. Not one stitch. I did get a lot done, however on the shawl for Karen. I got a bunch done on tweeking the new web site, too. It’s getting closer!

Friendship Friendship

I’m getting tired of the stitch motif I’m working on, and keep talking myself out of starting the border, then reversing, going back, giving myself a talking to again… If I start the border now, the shawl will be much smaller than I want it to be. Unless, of course, I do more repeats of the border motif, which is a possibility. Gak! Don’t know what I’ll end up doing. Only time will tell.

I liken the making of a large object to running a marathon. No matter how much you train with shorter runs (smaller projects), you always hit that wall of, “I can’t stand one more second of this!”

Congratulations to you on persevering. This is one of the qualities I lack.

I like Algernon so I’m thrilled it won. Now if I could only find time to knit it. Egads!

Good luck with the shawl. You better hurry though because you know how quickly Kathryn test knits. ;-)

Yay for Algernon. It really is the perfect name for those socks :) Hang in there on the shawl — you’ll be glad you did (maybe watching the Tour de France during the mountain stages this week will inspire you? those guys are suffering…).

Double yay for Algernon. That’s the one I voted for. It just sounds good.
