Knitting pictures! August 13, 2008
I actually have progress pictures for you—first time in ages! Let’s start with Algernon. The second one is almost done. I guess you can tell by this what decision I came to yesterday. Yup. Gotta finish the sock. How could I not? So close! If I’d been more awake last night I would have just finished these up. But I’d been up since 5:30, so… I’ll finish ‘em up today. ![]()
The dress. Haven’t worked on this at all since early June. Before I started in on it after this long delay I thought I’d better block it out, see exactly where I am. I moved the stitches off onto a scrap of yarn before blocking. It serves now as an excellent progress line. I’ve done two pattern repeats since arriving in Vegas the other day. I think I’ll do one more before I start the waste shaping. That ought to work out fairly well.
Speaking of Las Vegas… I think I mentioned yesterday that though the kitchen in this unit is tiny, we make due. Here’s the chicken we roasted last night, all set and ready to go into the oven, stuffed with fresh rosemary and an onion, lying on a bed of potatoes and more fresh rosemary sprigs, coated with olive oil, kosher salt, and herbs. Sorry, no picture of him
when he came out of the oven. We snarfed the skin before I thought to take a picture. He wasn’t so pretty after we ate that lovely, crunchy, herbaceous skin. Yum.
We had apple pie for dessert. Not from scratch, unfortunately. It’s just a Sara-Lee pie, but it has the crumbled topping. Yum.
Coco and Le Mutt came with us, of course. They’re resting comfortably on the couch. On a bed pillow. We had to get an extra pillow from housekeeping just for them. As you can see, they have full control of the remotes.
We may have a tiny room this time, but we’re also on the top floor of the newest building. Nice view, don’t you think? It’s been too hot to spend much time out on the deck, but it’s nice to have it there, anyway—makes the place feel more like an apartment than a hotel room.

Sounds like you’re having a good time! I really like that lace, it’s such a pretty pattern - can’t wait to see how it turns out.

That dress is going to be a stunner. Can’t wait to see it. Mmmm, Sara Lee pies. I used to work for a trucking company and we hauled out of the SL bakery a hour north of us, headed to Oxnard, then we woould bring fruit back. Our freezers were full of pies and we always had fresh fruit.

That chicken looks like it barely fits in the oven. It must be interesting trying to cook all your meals in such tight quarters. The pie sounds yummy!
Your in the homestretch of those socks now (if they’re not already completed) and you absolutely *must* bring the dress Monday night to see the progress you’re making on it. How many more days until you need to have it complete for Ravelympics?
