Home again

As you no doubt figured out from yesterday’s brief post, we are home again. Yea! I have a few more photos from Vegas to Las Vegasshare with you before we get to the knitting. First up: Dave in the little tiny kitchen in our suite. Next: our view at night. As nice as it is to look out over the valley toward the distant mountains during the day, Las Vegas really comes alive at night. That’s when it’s in its element.

The last of the trio below is a trifle blurry. Drat. Dave had just taken the two bottles of gin out of the freezer, preparing to pack them up for the trip home. They’re covered with hoar frost. Uh, cool. (tee hee)

Though far from finishing, I am making progress on my Ravelypmics project: the lace dress for Stephanie. What you’re looking at is the body of the skirt (flowers), and the waistline (stockinette panels bordered by fagoting with a little yarn over thing on either side. I’m not sure at the moment what I’m going to do next. She wants a deep V-neck, so I may be moving right up into a neckline, then starting the armholes a little while later. The question becomes: what patterning is it going to take? That’s really the $64 question. I don’t have an answer to it yet. I’m waffling.

AlgernonWhile waiting for the muse to descend, I finished up the second Algernon sock. I love, love, love these socks. I don’t yet have the knack of cabling without a cable needle—I know, pathetic—so it takes me forever. Worth it, though. I’m going to get a lot of wear out of these socks this winter. I can tell that already. As a reminder, I knit my model socks from Posh Yarn’s Laura sock yarn, in the Earnest colorway, a lovely 80/20 blend of merino and cashmere. Yum. Kathryn, thank you again for the wonderful, wonderful gift. I will treasure these socks!

I have pictures of a new pair of socks to show you tomorrow, socks that I started when Algernon was done, and the waist-shaping-muse hadn’t found me yet. I think you’ll like them. I sure do. For now I’ll leave you with a picture of a happy Miss Ricki. She’s glad we’re home. Even if she doesn’t look it.

Miss Ricki look rather put out that you dared leave her alone!! But I bet she sure is glad you’re home :-) Algernon came out great and I cant wait to see the next sock to be knit up!! I am about 75-80% done with Illusions and they are really looking good, am loving the simplicity of the design and ease of which it knits up!

That’s a great view from your room! Vegas is definitely beautiful at night, but all I can think of is what the cost for electricity in that city must be.

Algernon is definitely my favorite also. I’m writing the blog post up on it now to hopefully post in the next day or two.

Love the photo of Miss Ricki!

Vegas is fun, glad you had a fine time there. Love the shot of the pool area at night with the lights in the distance. We went to Vegas twice last year, but this year we haven’t gone anywhere. Glad you enjoyed it for me!
