A little yarn pron

Elann’s Baby Lace Merino color cardYarn arrived on Monday. From Elann. Yarn for lace. Their Baby Lace Merino, to be exact. In two colors: Cypress and Ruby. This yarn is lovely. It’s a 50/50 blend of baby alpaca and fine merino, and boy is it soft. It has a tiny halo from the alpaca that lends a little something special to it. You should see the other colors it comes in, too. I’m in love with Merlot (a deep wine red), Dark Chocolate, Aubergine, Viola Phlox, Tapestry Blue, Admiral Blue, Capri Blue… The Irish Moss is a lovely light green. Oh, and… It’s a good thing I already have two glorious colors of this yarn, as I don’t know how I’d choose, otherwise. I am so looking forward to dipping my needles into this yarn. I just need to finish In the Woods first. Only 7 faun’s eyes repeats to go, then I start on the final border. Yea!

Hrmph. Sorry about the blurry picture. I changed something on my camera that I clearly need to change back to the way it was. Hold on a sec. I need to do that while I’m thinking about it. Okay. That’s done.

Big news from Dee at Posh Yarn today. She and her hubby have teamed up with friends to form a new yarn company, Cariad Yarn. Cariad yarns will use the same blanks as the Posh Yarns we love, and they’ll still be died by Tony, but they’re going to be sold in shops, so that those of us who don’t have super-fast clicky fingers will be able to actually get them. Hooray! My patterns

I got the latest batch of patterns from the printer. I love this printer. If they were local I’d love them more, but their prices are great, including shipping, and they do marvelous work. I recently started using InDesign for my layout work, and I really like the results. One by one I’m going to be migrating my previous patterns to InDesign. The plan is to keep everything the same, just copy the instructions straight across, but to hopefully add a few more photos, and to make the printed patterns even better. While I’m at it, I’m hoping to add written stitch instructions for more of the sock patterns. If I can get them to fit on the page.

Speaking of my patterns, have you seen my featured pattern ad on Ravelry this month? You’ll see one or the other of these ads, if you’re lucky enough to hit the pattern page at just the right time. There are some other wonderful patterns featured this month, too. Anne of Knit Spot has two designs featured, that I saw anyway.

So you really like the Adobe? I’ve thought about purchasing it with my school discount before I leave so that I could possibly create some patterns in the future. Well, and some things for my rabbit business, but you know, kitting. :) Not that I claim to be a designer, but I do like to fiddle around with stitches and patterns.

I got into this blog because of the word “yarn”. That reminded me of my hobby way back in high school. I love making bracelets out of yarn and some other simple things out of it. Hmm… I think I should try to do it again with the colors that you have mentioned above. :D

    Hi there!

I am 2 months pregnant and wanted to prepare in advance for my baby. Since I am not working I would like to help my husband cut off on our baby expenses by making handmade baby clothes, socks, hats, etc. So I wanted to test if I still remember my crochet class before. I was surfing the net and came across your site and saw beautiful pictures of yarn-made products here. My question however, are:
    1. Will this be worth my time?
    2. Should I be doing something else?
    3. Are yarn-made products safe for baby?

I look forward to hearing your response.

    Thank you.
