To market, to market to buy a fat hog
I finally got the second ball of yarn I need to finish up my market bag. Hooray! Though bummed to not be able to get it on sale at Webs, I did manage to find a nice little shop, Flying Fingers Yarn Shop, to buy it from. They kept in touch with me every step of the way, which was great, especially when it turned out they didn’t have it in stock, and even included a tape measure—that I forgot to take a picture of and it’s too dark right now, bad blogger!—in the box. It’s one of those nice little tape measures that’s stored in a small plastic widget… You pull out the tape, then press a button to retract it back into
its home. I love these things.
As you can see, I was in desperate need of another ball of yarn. That small puddle of unknit yarn laying there next to the bag, a matter of only a couple yards of fiber, that’s all I had left of the hank I got at TNNA in January.
The two hanks of yarn are from different dye lots, and so aren’t exactly the same color. I knew that would be the case, since I got the first bit in January. Still, I hope it isn’t too noticeable in the finished bag.
Flowers
I haven’t had a chance yet to read through the huge user’s guide for my new camera, but that hasn’t stopped me from playing with with the camera a bit. After managing to kill nearly everything that grew on my once lush main deck, I discovered this week, much to my delight, that a couple of the bulbs actually survived. Woot!
I don’t remember what kind of bulbs these are. The leaves are quite narrow, and really rather short. The flowers, though not huge, are much, much bigger than you’d think they’d be, if you saw the leaves first. They’re blooming a little late this year—usually blooming closer to mid-summer— and it appears that I did manage to kill off quite a few of them, but there are still some left, so hope remains that I’ll be able to keep these some few alive long enough to multiply.
A furry watcher
I caught Ricki engaging in one of her favorite pastimes the other day: looking out the window. I disturbed her, but she went back to it. She’s looking out at the small deck outside my office. I wonder what she found so engaging.

I’m glad you finally got the yarn you need; I hate having to put a project on hold for something like that! And I love the cat photos, especially that first one

Great market bag, fabulous flowers! Scientific name is Zephyranthes but they are commonly called Rain Lilies. In Texas they pop up after a few days of good rain so mine bloom in bits and pieces all over the yard from Spring through Fall.

Will you be writing up the Market bag pattern? I really like it!

Your Market Bag is really very pretty. I like both the shape of the bag and the color of Euroflax you’ve chosen.
