Quick update October 7, 2008
I noticed a lot of attention to my Diamonds in His Shoes pattern again, so looked into it. I discovered, much to my delight, that the pattern was recently featured on Whip Up, a site similar to Lime & Violet’s Daily Chum, but which includes more than just knitting highlights. They have some great stuff listed there. Be sure to check it out.
I probably shouldn’t tell you about this one, as I haven’t listened to the podcast myself yet, but I’ll do it anyway. I’m also getting some hits on my Dulcavina stole pattern from the latest Stash and Burn podcast, Lace Panic. Hopefully it’s all good. I had planned to give it a listen this morning, but it’s already afternoon, and the day has gotten away from me. How does that happen? Gads.
I’ve been knitting madly on a project that I don’t want to talk about yet, as I might submit it to a magazine. I haven’t decided yet. I need more input before I decide for sure. Since I’m yet undecided, and magazines don’t like it if pattern details are disclosed ahead of time, I’m keeping this one under wraps for the time being. We’ll see how long it lasts.
I tossed the green felted bag back in the washing machine for another go at making it smaller. It seems to have worked. Though it’s still more than a bit flared at the top edge—no idea how that happened—it’s four inches narrower than the last go, as well as an inch or two shorter. Hopefully this will be it. I think it’s there. We’ll see how it behaves when it’s dry.

it’s quite common for the tops of bags to flare in the felting–it’s just that they don’t felt as much. either hold the bag upside down over the washer so only the top will felt to where you want it, or felt just the top by hand. it will work.

I usually block out the flare with no problem.
