It needs to finish drying

The knitting is done. I’ve proclaimed that the felting is done. Now it just needs to finish drying. The outside of the bag seems dry, but the inside is still quite wet. Yes, that is a definite stripe a bit under the handles. When I bought this yarn, years ago, I told the company I got it from (not Philosopher’s Wool) that I’d be making a sweater from it. So when she sent the yarn along she sent two different dye lots that are vastly different from each other. Doh. I’m just glad that I had enough yarn from the main dye lot to make the sweater. Since I really didn’t care if the bag had a stripe in it, I used the two balls from the lighter lot for the bottom. As it turned out, I rather like the stripe. Glad I had enough yarn so the stripe’s not in the sweater, though.

Pattern: Angela’s Fabulous Felted Bag (on Ravelry).
Yarn: Philosopher’s Wool, 3-ply.
Needles: Size US 11 (8.0 mm), Knit Picks Options.
Before felting: 23w top and bottom x 21h.
After felting: 23w at top, 15w at base, 14h.
Elapsed time: June 18 to October 9, 2008.
Notes: No, it didn’t really take all that long to knit up this bag. Well, sort of. I knit a different pattern that was huge, huge! before felting, ripped it out, started over, then took my time knitting it. I was in no rush. It made good Monday night knitting.

Green felted bagOver the last couple of days I’ve considered a number of different ways of trying to keep it open enough to dry inside, while keeping its shape. Came up with zip. Until I stood up and turned around after taking a couple pictures of it on the floor. There’s my sewing machine with its nice little chair. Chair! I know, I’ll put a towel over the chair back to keep the wood nice, and put the bag on it. Hopefully this will help. I’d really like to take this to Monday night knitting group this week.

It looks great, and the stripe is really cute!

if it’s really wet, put some plastic (like shower curtain? cut up grocery bags?) under the towel to protect the chair further

Looks fabulous. I like the stripe too. The chair should help with the drying process.
