Hardly any knitting time October 27, 2008
My plan had been to spend most of the weekend knitting. After last week, I certainly needed that time. So much for plans. They’re meant to be changed, right? That’s the whole point in making them in the first place, right? Hm. We went out on Saturday afternoon, swung by Costco. “Swung by” being the operative phrase here. Couldn’t find a parking place in that huge lot, so we left. Clearly, we were there too late in the day. Went to the grocery store on our way home. Hooray! There’s food in the house.
Went to Costco again yesterday after stopping at a couple other places, much earlier in the day: success. We actually found a parking place, went in, got our stuff, left. Whew. Ran home, got the frozen stuff into the freezer, ate lunch, headed back out. Returned to the first place we’d gone yesterday, Total Wine & More. The new local store, which will have its grand opening on Tuesday this week, is fairly new to California. This is just their second store in this state, the other being up in Roseville. From what we saw, their prices are amazing. Lower even than Beverages and More, where we have been shopping. Plus, the reason for our return, they do wine tastings on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They give small pours, which is just fine. You can taste one or all of the wines being offered that day for one thin dime. Per person. Sorry, BevMo, I think we’ve found a new store to shop at. ![]()
We were only home a couple of hours after getting back from the tasting before heading next door to have dinner with our neighbor. I don’t normally take my knitting over there, but it was about the only chance I’d had all day to get any knitting done. The DPNs I’d been waiting for so I could restart the sleeve for my cardigan arrived on Saturday, and I was anxious to resume knitting. I have a good start on that sleeve, and am feeling good about how it’s going.
On Saturday evening I made a little progress on my latest sock, the one with the Panda Silk. I had a little tweaky thing that needed to be figured out with the stitch pattern, but I think I have it down now, and the sock is progressing.
I finally got the math done for Syncopation. Got the pattern off to my test knitter this morning. Whew. Hopefully my figuring will make sense, and it’ll all work out. We’ll see. Fingers crossed.
More errands need doing either today or tomorrow. They should be done today, but I’m voting for tomorrow. I have a strong need for some quality time with my needles.
