Sock name? October 31, 2008
I’m in need of sock name ideas. I’m at a loss with these so far.
As a reminder, the yarn is Panda Silk from Crystal Palace. It’s a luscious combination of bamboo and washable merino, with a touch of silk. The color is called Nutmeg Tones, which is perfect for this delightful play of browns. Ooh. I love their new Forest Tones colorway. Back on track, this colorway reminds me in part of autumn in my youth. I lived not in snow country, but in an area where there were distinct seasons, and autumn always warred with spring as my favorite. Though some years gave us glorious fall color, we didn’t always get that.
As many, or perhaps more, autumns came in more slowly, and the leaves turned day by day from their summer greens to autumn browns and golds ignoring the reds completely, before falling on the ground where Dad would rake them up, take them into the back field, then till them into the soil in late spring.
The colors in this yarn remind me of those years. The medium and light browns of the leaves, the dark browns of the tree trunks, wet with rain. Sigh. Lovely. I need a sock name to help evoke that. Any ideas?

It’s fun to walk through the woods in the fall and kick the leaf in the air…so how about Kicking Leaves?

I don’t know that I’ve got anything good for you, alas. I’m getting rain dripping down a windowpane, but that doesn’t make a good name at all…

I think the socks are very pretty; however, someone may want to make
them out of something besides fall colors. “Joy of the Seasons”.

Mushroom Ring.

Oops, hit submit to quickly. With the mushroom title you could tell a story about fairies dancing with leaves under the newly sprouted fall mushrooms.

I like Kicking Leaves too! That’s my vote!
