Site move

You may have noticed the complete absence of my blog and/or pattern shop over the last few days. It’s because we moved to a new server, and as the way of such things, our new location takes a bit to trickle through the Internet at large. My other pages are moving today, well, the ones I’m keeping are, and so there will be gaps, page load errors, and other oddities until the new locations are well established with the powers that be. Sorry about that. Once the dust from moving has settled, all my pages should load tons faster, as the new server is, well, new, and considerably faster than the old one. Woot!

Thanksgiving

It was just the two of us for Thanksgiving this year. We forgot to get our bird out of the freezer before going to Vegas, so didn’t think we’d end up having one, but we did. We went to Costco on Wednesday to pick up a few things, and they had birds for less than a buck a pound, so we splurged. If you want to see more photos of the bird as it cooked, they’re in the gallery. Hope you had a good holiday, too.

The book list

The other day I promised you the list of books that Dave and I got at the library bookstore sale. Books are listed in the order they’re piled in the photos. In other words: no real order. The paperbacks:

  • The Ringworld Throne by Larry Niven
  • The Buck Passes Flynn by Gregory McDonald—I have no idea what that title means—Dave picked it out
  • Cyberway by Alan Dean Foster
  • Demons Don’t Dream by Piers Anthony
  • Joust by Mercedes Lackey
  • Tara Road by Maeve Binchy
  • The King of Torts by John Grisham

The hardcovers:

  • Hit Parade by Lawrence Block
  • The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams
  • Fortress in the Eye of Time by C. J. Cherryh
  • Under Orders by Dick Francis
  • The Last Juror by John Grisham
  • The Summons by John Grisham
  • Quentins by Maeve Binchy
  • Scarlet Feather by Maeve Binchy
  • The Dream King by Wilfred Blunt—Not a hardcover, and the only piece of non-fiction that we picked up, this is about King Ludwig of Bavaria, the mad king who built the fabulous Neuschwanstein castle overlooking the lake that he died in.

He’s got rhythm

This cockatoo likes to dance. And he’s good at it!

Strange squid

The mysteries of the deep. This squid lives under 1.5 miles of water in the Gulf of Mexico. He’s a strange-looking thing. Be sure to click all four images, then follow the link in the paragraph under those images to see the video.

Ah, Piers Anthony and Mercedes Lackey, the authors of my high school years. :)

Thanks for the cheeky cockatoo and the beautiful squid links. I truly marvel at wonders of the animal world.

I assume yo’re off celebrating rather than having new server issues. Either way, Happy Birthday.
