A Gschnitztal oops

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

I found two little things with the pattern that could be confusing, so I need to let you all know about them. I’m at Mom’s house right now, 400 miles from home, or I’d just fix them and send out the revised file to anyone who purchased it. That part will have to wait until […]

Gschnitztal

Friday, December 26, 2008

I haven’t finished my second sock yet, but I’m far enough to know that you’ll love knitting these socks. Kristie kindly proofread the pattern for me this morning, and after I corrected a couple sniggly little things she pronounced the pattern ready to fly. You can purchase Gschnitztal from my pattern shop, or on Ravelry.

We have a sock name

Friday, December 26, 2008

The latest sock name poll ended around noon my time the day before Christmas. As of that moment, we had a clear winner, a sock name that grows on me more every time I see it: Gschnitztal. It’s a lovely, unpronounceable (by most here in the States) name, and I like it.

As you can […]

Sock names

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

I closed yesterday’s poll early, in case you were wondering. I got two wonderful suggestions from Denise (blogess, still!). I was 100% in for Diagonal Stride, a cross country skiing maneuver, before she suggested Gschnitztal, a valley near Innsbruck, Austria that is evidently popular with cross country skiers. Denise copied this down from an ad […]

More sock frogging

Monday, December 22, 2008

I worked almost exclusively on the green Shibui socks all weekend. I don’t have a picture for you at this moment, as it’s nearly midnight, and not nearly light enough for photography. I’ll get one to you soon, I promise.
Remember the other day when I ripped out the first attempt and restarted on larger […]

Blogkeeping

Thursday, December 18, 2008

Distinctly different than though simultaneously similar to housekeeping, blogkeeping chores include sidebar modifications (check), new back-end spam blocking software search and installation (check).
Some time in the wee hours this morning I did yet another search for spam blocking software to work in conjunction with Akismet. I found a product called WP-SpamFree, and installed it. […]

Knitterly party

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

The knitting group I go to on Mondays decided to have a party this week. Anne graciously opened her house to us, and we descended upon her en masse with loads of yummy food, delectable wines and spirits, and knitting gifts. After we ate and settled in we did a gift exchange. Most of us […]

1, 2, 3 riiip

Monday, December 15, 2008

One of the main reasons my husband would never even attempt to learn to knit is all the ripping back that gets done. He’d get way too frustrated by that simple act, hurl the offending yarn and needles across the room, and never look at it again. So he doesn’t even try. This is probably […]

Can’t photograph this blue!

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Well, I can photograph it. That doesn’t take brilliance—point the camera and push the button. But the color? Beyond me. It’s a dusty blue, but rich. If I knew more about color, I’m sure I’d be able to fix it in Photoshop, but no. I know enough about color to really mess it up. But […]

Knitting progress

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I started the second Basket Whip cowl yesterday afternoon, and made good progress on it. The first half of the first repeat is done, and the second part has begun. The color in this photo is much closer to real life.
I also made a little progress on the new sock yesterday evening. I’m just […]
