Blogging blues February 18, 2009
Yup. I’ve been busy. The charts for the latest lace, the clover one, whose working title is currently In the Summer Shade, have been taking tons of time. Mostly because I keep forgetting stuff—like, it’s sort of important to somehow indicate that the outer two edge stitches are supposed to be garter stitch. Yeah.
But also, some of the blogging joy has (hopefully temporarily) left me. Blogging has been more of a chore than a joy lately. In part it’s because of the lack of comments. Since February 3, I’ve received a combined total of five comments on the six posts I’ve written. Well, five real comments. I think, if I’d kept them and counted them up, I probably received ten or more spam comments on those posts in the same time frame. Perhaps my new and improved spam-blocking software—which is working, honest, ten spam comments in that amount of time is low—is preventing your comments from showing up. At all. If you’ve had trouble posting comments, please let me know. Perhaps it’s me. Perhaps my three week absence at the start of the year has combined with really boring posts, so you no longer feel the need to communicate with me. Perhaps I’m simply feeling sorry for myself, and I really just need to snap out of it, pull myself up by my bootstraps, and get a move-on.
That said, here are more photos of the current design in progress.
It’s even bigger than this now. I’m ready to start knitting the row of bees, lifeline and all. Just in case. I still don’t know what the border is going to look like. I really do need to decide that soon.

I read your blog all the time, but am by nature a lurker.
I think your designs are beautiful, and love getting an insight into how they came to be.

I guess I should confess to being a lazy commenter. Or a really bad lurker. I keep telling myself I should really try harder…and then I don’t. The latest lace is looking intriguing. It’ll be fun to see how it turns out.

Another lazy commenter/lurker! I’m a regular reader. Your designs are beautiful–please keep blogging!

I completely understand the lack-of-blog-joy thing. It hits every once in a while, usually when I’m busy. The fun always comes back eventually, though.
As for comments, I’m just an inveterate lurker. I am trying to break the habit, but I’m not always successful (especially when short on time and just trying to get caught up). Distance between posts isn’t a problem; you’re on my reader, so I’ll always see when a new one comes up!
Hope the writing urge returns soon!

I check in here too from time to time. Please don’t let the lack of comments bring you down. I lurk and/or have many blogs on reader so I just don’t comment much.

I think a lot of KnitBlogdom is bogged down right now. I’m just catching up on reading and haven’t actually posted myself for almost two months. I’m not sure if it’s the time of year, the times themselves, changes in on-line knitterly patterns, or what.
Personally, I just feel way behind and rarely stop to comment while catching up.
Cirrus turned out very beautiful.

My poor blog has been neglected since prob October due to a move and just adjusting to new surroundings :-) Unfortunately that has also turned me into a lurker, so sorry for that. I have been reading and enjoying I promise and as always I cant wait to see how your designs finish up :-)

HI - I am one of those lurkers too , and don’t always comment - love the look of your new shawl - can always count on you for a different shape - have just been thinking about your garden shawl , as I made it on 3.5 needles, so its smaller - wore it the other day as a big scarf with my black coat- loved knitting it ,was so different , and am wondering if I need to do it again in a different colour - might just wait till this new one is done - never fear we may not comment but we forever lurk
cheers ——–pat

Sorry — I always read but rarely comment. Really enjoying watching you work through the bee design. Interesting shawl…

No one ever comments on my blog, so I share your feelings. I do lurk, however.
