More books April 8, 2009
Our local library bookstore had a sale again on Saturday, so we went. The last time we went we brought home two bags of books for $2.00 per bag. It worked out to 16 books for $.25 each. This week we got 20 books into one bag, so the books were only $.10 each. I sometimes wonder about us. It’s not like we don’t have any books here. I’m sure we have more books than some of the small libraries I’ve been to. For all that, it’s amazing how often we both run out of things to read. Sigh. Anyway, you probably want to know what we came home with. Here goes. ![]()
The first pile has these titles, some I picked, some Dave did, starting at the top and working down.
- A Wizard in Mind by Christopher Stasheff
- Bleachers by John Grisham
- The Front by Patricia Cornwell
- Support Your Local Wizard by Diane Duane
- Clock Making for the Woodworker by Wayne Louis Kadar
- The Bob Book by David Rensin and Bill… somebody—I can’t see the letters properly in the picture, and I’m too lazy to go upstairs and dig it out of the box (our bag broke)
Second pile, same deal:
- Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
- A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle
- Hot Stuff by Janet Evanovich
- Defender by C. J. Cherryh
- The Russia House by John LeCarré
- The Powers that Be by Anne McCaffrey
- The White Bull by Fred Saberhagen
- Scales of Justice by Ngaio Marsh
- Madwand by Roger Zelazny
And the third pile:
- Doorways in the Sand by Roger Zelazny
- Millennium by Ben Bova
- A Specter is Haunting Texas by Fritz Lieber
- Flying Tigers (sorry, no link—laziness striking again)
- Needlework from The Smithsonian Illustrated Library of Antiques series
- Afghans to Knit and Crochet by Leslie Linsley
Quite a haul, isn’t it? Now, to figure out where to put them all…
With all the still-horrid weather happening around the country, it’s almost embarrassing to admit that over the weekend it was fabulous here—mid 70s during the day. It was so nice that we broke out the deck furniture, and looked at the books we got outside under the umbrella, while sipping beers.
