Designing = frogging April 24, 2009
Sometimes I think the hardest part about designing is sucking it up and ripping out a whole lot of knitting that I was totally happy with up until ten minutes ago. I did it again this morning. I may not have been posting, but I have been knitting. A lot. I’ve frogged this new start a bunch of times, too. Clearly, it needed to be done one more time. The upshot is that after several days of work, and more than 5,000 stitches knit this time, all my hard work has gone from this
to this.
I know. Sad, isn’t it? That used to be 13 rows of 400 stitches. But once again, I will be ever so much happier with the final shawl because I restarted it now instead of waiting and doing it after even more knitting got done.
If you’re on Ravelry and have the pressing need to join another group, I’ve done something special for you. Tee hee. Yup. I created a group for my own patterns over there called Fiber Dreams. Please join us!
I’m going out of town again. Leaving tomorrow morning. I won’t be back until May 5. You probably won’t hear from me at all while I’m gone. I’ll be at Mom’s. She’s having her second cataract surgery, and I’m going to take care of her while she recuperates. I’ll see you when I get back.

Ouch! All that hard work…but it’s better to be satisfied with the end product than not. (Of course, there’s also something about well-wound balls of yarn that just screams “potential.”)
I hope your mom does well with her surgery and that you have a good trip!

Hope your mom recovers fast and has no complications!
I hope your “time off” is productive and you are able to enjoy your time helping your mom :-)

Traveling means plenty of knitting time! Sorry you had to frog, but you’re right that it will be worth it in the end. Good luck with the new version!
