Yarn tasting

On Monday the Knit Knight crowd got together as usual, but we had a treat. Denise saw recently that the fine folk at ArtFibers are beginning to send kits around for a yarn tasting, sets of yarn with plenty to swatch with, so she signed us up. Monday was the day. Denise got there early to set everything up, then as we all arrived we fondled yarn samples, chose yarns near and dear to our hearts, and began swatching. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this was. Sign up. Get one of these wonderful boxes delivered to your knitting group. The pictures below are just a few of the ones I took that night. There are more, including photos of my swatches.

Oh, and on another topic entirely, Dave and I got to go see a screening of Terminator Salvation last night. I know. It doesn’t open until Thursday, but we’ve seen it already. How fun is that? It was marvelous fun, actually; the movie a good extension of the series. The theater was packed. We got there an hour early, and the only two seats together were in the second row. At least we were reasonably centered. I highly recommend it to any Terminator fans. I’m looking forward to the DVD coming out, so we can see the whole screen at one time. The second row was a little close…

I almost forgot! Doh. The poll. There was a tie between the top two suggestions, Chantilly Cathedral and Domus Aurea. My personal favorite is Domus Aurea, so that’s the winner. Jacqui, I’ll send you a copy of the pattern as soon as it’s been finalized. Thank you everyone for participating, and helping me to choose a name for my project!

ETA: Dear Alexis, who took Latin this year and is tickled that she’s getting to use it in real life, provided the pronunciation for me: Dough-muss then Ow (as in hOW)-ree-ahh (and a slight roll on the “r” if you prefer).
