Domus Aurea is blocking May 26, 2009
Woot! It’s done. The ends are woven in. It’s blocking on the bed in the guest room.
Hopefully tomorrow morning will dawn bright and sunny so I can get some good photos of it. In the meantime, you’ll have to be content with these. I love how it looks before blocking. The back, especially. The texture and the lines are lovely. I love seeing the back of unblocked pieces at least as much as seeing the front. The texture back there is much more interesting before it’s been blocked. Don’t you think?
I got a few more repeats done on Babylon at knit knight last night, since Domus Aurea was done by then. It’s getting pretty close to being done, too. I’m seriously considering doing a triangular version of Domus Aurea. I think it’d look pretty neat. And it’d make those of you who prefer triangular shawls happier. Both a tunic and a skirt in the same pattern have been suggested. I’m thinking about them. They might happen; they might both happen. It’s hard to say. They’ll both take quite a bit of planning.
I hope all the Americans had a good holiday weekend. We cleaned as we’re expecting guests at the end of the week, went to a wake, cleaned some more, went to a graduation party, recovered from all of the above, then I went to knit knight. It turned out to be a very full weekend. Why can’t people spread their things out more? We go for weeks on end with nothing specific, then it all happens at once.
