A little of this, little of that August 31, 2009
Organizing
Last week I got a bee in my bonnet, and finally rearranged my under-counter shipping center. In the last year or so my focus has changed from shipping individual patterns to sending out great lots of them, and the previous “shipping stuff” arrangement no longer suited. Now it’s all nice and neat again. I even managed to get rid of enough old stuff to completely free up one drawer. Now I have a capital spot to toss my odd swatches!
Mystery plant 2
Remember the mystery plant Dave planted in the tiny pot when we moved the previous one (now known to be a grape) into a larger pot? He’s grown. Quite a bit. I’m still not sure what he is. I have a suspicion that he might be a pepper plant, but I’m not convinced. What do you think it is?
A new cardigan
I’ve been knitting feverishly. In part because of the heat wave, in part because I’ve been knitting with a nice, thick, warm wool. I know. I don’t have a clue why, but every summer when the temperatures soar I get a strong urge to knit something warm and cozy. This summer the yarn is a fabulous aran weight wool/alpaca blend from Elann called Peruvian Sierra Aran. I’ve been wanting a long brown cardigan, so that’s what I’m making. The yarn is gorgeous. The color is called Walnut, a rich, dark brown, and it has hairs in it that are red or blond or an even darker brown. The effect is fabulous. The yarn goes with all of the brown clothes I already have, plus some of the blue, the green, the red… I may end up living in this sweater this winter.

It definitely looks like it might be a pepper plant. :) Nice organization and GORGEOUS sweater .. :) I love the zigzag and can’t wait to see the finished product. :)

It does look like a pepper plant.
Is the sweater your design?

Do tell the origin of the pattern for the sweater. I’ll be interested to see the finished garment.
Love organizing, but getting around to doing it is a big hurdle, as my yarn and tools cupboard demonstrates quite. I will start on it this weekend, though. I have an out-of-town speaker for my Guild to host on Wednesday and need to fit more into that cupboard before then.

Hmmm…excessively warm weather + warm, cozy knitting - sounds like you’re wishing for winter to me! I always seem to gravitate towards sweaters in August myself, I don’t know if it’s the thoughts of approaching fall or if I simply just need a break from lace.

I knit heavy sweaters in summer, too. Have to get ready for winter, obviously. =)
Looks great…I love the lacy zigzags.
