Remembering

Eight years ago today our country was shaken by terrorist attack. I had this picture and quote on my old web site for a long time. It felt right to bring it back today. In remembrance.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve….

Knitting

This isn’t actually Winding Trails mitts 1new progress, but the pictures are new. I’ve been remiss not only in blogging of late, but also in keeping up with my picture taking. Bad blogger! I love, love, love this yarn. It’s divinely soft. Unfortunately, the stitch pattern doesn’t show worth beans. When I’m done with this pair I’ll make another pair in a plain, solid-colored yarn, so that the stitch pattern will show better. I might also go down a needle size. Jury’s out on that part for the moment. Oh, yeah. This lovely yarn is Malabrigo Sock in Rayon Vert. Love.

And then there’s this. Yes, I already started working on a shawl with the lovely blue Silky Alpaca Lace from Classic Elite. This stuff knits up like a dream. With a color like this—especially since it’s named Forget Me Not—how could I not knit flowers with it? This time, instead of openwork, the flowers themselves are made with nupps. It took a fair amount of fiddling, but I finally figured out how to get these not-quite diamonds to behave and knit themselves into an order that repeats easily for this triangular shawl. I don’t quite have the border figured out yet, but that will come in its own good time.
