Twisted stitches August 12, 2010
Instead of knitting holes I’ve been twisting a lot of stitches lately. There’s this pair of socks that I designed for Posh Yarn in Wales. The pattern doesn’t have a name yet, but there’s a line of tulips flanked by other twisted stitch motifs. I enjoyed knitting the socks. The test knitters seem to be having fun with them, too.
While the sock pattern testing is going on, I’m designing a pair of fingerless mitts to match. Both patterns will be kitted up by Dee at Posh Yarn, and sold in her shop. Dee will hold the exclusive on these patterns for six months or so, then I’ll be able to sell them individually.
More twisted stitches, but these I knit several years ago. I recently updated the Diamonds in His Shoes sock pattern. The free version, which includes just one size and only charted instructions, will remain available for the time being (subject to change without notice), but now there’s also a paid version that’s been tech edited, and includes three sizes plus both charted and written stitch instructions.
I’ve wondered off and on for ages about doing a mystery lace shawl KAL. It would be the kind of thing where you’d get one clue a week for some number of weeks, and at the end you’d have a (probably free) shawl pattern. Each clue would probably only be online for a limited time, then once the whole thing is done all the clues would be taken down, and the completed pattern would be put up for sale.
I think the KAL would probably run in my Ravelry group. Please vote in the poll below to let me know if you’d like to participate in a mystery KAL featuring a new lace design.
Mystery KAL?
- Absolutely! (54%, 7 Votes)
- Maybe (38%, 5 Votes)
- No (8%, 1 Votes)
Total Voters: 13
If many people sign up for the KAL, I imagine I’ll need a number of helpers. If you’d be interested in helping to moderate the KAL, please PM me.
I’m in the beginning stages of thinking about this, and don’t have anything concrete for a design or anything, much less a time line, but thought I’d feel everyone out before I got any further.
P.S. Isn’t that star font totally cool? I need to design something else with stars so I can use it as the heading font.

Hi Laura,
I have been a member of SKA (Sock Knitters Anonymous) on Ravelry for 2 years now and we have a mystery sock pattern every 2 months. I totally love the concept and would participate in the lace mystery KAL in a heartbeat. Check out the threads for each mystery sock (now also called mock) so see what kind of work the moderating can be… this of course is somewhat because of the size of the group, which is now several thousand ravelers.

I’d love to see KAL run in your Ravelry group. I’ll be waiting for the complete pattern that you were saying that would be up for sale. Hope it will be soon. Goodluck!

Hi,
I would join in on a twisted shawl. I would have voted but I guess I am too late. Please email me if you decide to do a KAL. Take care and happy knitting or rather twisting;0)
