We’re showing up all over the place!

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Hello all. This is Dave, Laura’s husband and support group.
I was glancing through the newly arrived Yarn Barn of Kansas catalog and was really jazzed to find two of Laura’s patterns prominently displayed on page 30.

The pattern at the upper-right is Diamanten and the pattern at the bottom is Capistrano.
Pretty cool, what?

Boreas and Windflower

Thursday, December 30, 2010

I just counted them up. I released 23 new knitting patterns in 2010. It’s no wonder it feels like I’ve done nothing but knit all year.
The last two new patterns of the year are these very different cowls: Boreas, reversible cables knit with aran weight yarn and size 11 needles, and Windflower, a field […]

Snow-capped mountains

Sunday, December 26, 2010

The nearby mountains are once again covered with a thick layer of snow. The valleys are filled with light layers of fog. It’s cool out, and the air has that fresh smell that comes with a good rain. Lovely.
I don’t know about you, but I didn’t get a single stitch knit on Christmas Day. I […]

Cowls, hatched

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

I finished knitting two radically different cowls this week. I’ll block them, finish up the patterns, and get them off to Kristen to be tech edited next week, with hopes of getting both patterns out by Christmas.

The first cowl has a fun and frilly border on one side, a sea of tiny anemone flowers, […]

New Life

Friday, December 3, 2010

I took myself in hand this morning, decided that come hell or high water I’d get those buttons sewn onto my blue cardigan.
You know what I discovered? The button holes aren’t evenly spaced.
Head.Desk.

You know what this means, don’t you? Frogging is in my future.
Not only do I obviously need to remove the […]

NaKniSweMo finish

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

I did it. Even taking off a whole week of knitting, plus two days, and redesigning the sweater from the armholes up, I finished knitting it my NaKniSweMo project in the month of November. Here it is.

Okay, okay, I do have to weave in a few ends, but I’ll do that as soon as I’m […]

Alpenhorn and Edelweiss

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

I released two patterns this morning: Alpenhorn fingerless mitts, and Edelweiss socks. Yup. You’ve seen these designs before. Numerous times. As I’m sure you recall, they were designed to be kits for Posh Yarn, but when the kit thing didn’t work out, Dee and I agreed that I should release them on my own. So, […]

Vacation knitting

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I made an executive decision when planning what knitting projects to take to Las Vegas for our annual week of sitting on our respective butts, watching movies, reading, and knitting. Well, I did the knitting, Dave concentrated on the television. Anyway, a few days before we left we decided that we would not be taking […]

Two things, well, three

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Remember to submit your ideas for names for these two patterns over on the Posh Yarn blog.

Check this out. Elann is selling yarn packs for my Spanish Dancer pattern. They knit the pattern in one of their yarns, and it’s lovely!

Okay, here’s the third. Got the body of my NaNoSweMo sweater all done—even the […]

NaKniSweMo, contest

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

NaKniSweMo
My NaKniSweMo sweater is moving right along. Both fronts are done to the shoulders, and the back is only a couple inches away. I should be able to finish that, and start the first sleeve today. Assuming I get off my duff and start unraveling that first sweater, so I have enough yarn to continue. […]
