Pacific Islands
A simple shell pattern that makes beautiful points on the cast-on edge is combined with an ocean wave on either side. Design is knit from cast on edge to the center in two pieces, which are then grafted together. Can be knit as scarf or shawl.
Yarn: Lace weight, 250 yards for the scarf, 900 yards for the shawl. Model scarf knit with JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk 2/18, Teal.
Needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) circular knitting needles.
Gauge: Approximately 23 stitches x 26 rows to 4 inches in the Shell Lace stitch, blocked.
Finished size: Scarf – 10 x 61 inches (25.4 x 155 cm); stole – [23.5 x 91.5 inches (60 x 232.5 cm)].
